Sourav Chakraborty is an Indian footballer who plays for McDowell Mohun Bagan as a defender. He earned his accolades while representing Bengal at the National Games and the Santosh trophy. He was also voted the 'Best Young Player' of the Kolkata League for two consecutive years.

Hailing from Kolkata, Sourav was driven towards football by his father who himself wished to play for one of the big Kolkata clubs. Sourav always wanted to fulfill his father's wish by playing for a big club himself. While his mother initially wanted him to concentrate merely on his studies, she later agreed to let him play football professionally.

Sourav, then, joined the Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy, but had to return home after a year because his mother had fallen ill. He continued his football career with BNR and Aryans before joining McDowell Mohun Bagan.

Sourav says he will never forget his first day of training at the Green and Maroon Dome. He recalls being nervous because he had heard a lot about the pressure of performing at a big club, but at the same time, he was excited as he was training alongside players he idolized.

" A footballer should always listen to his coach blindly because the coach has a better understanding of the game. Many young players don't like it when their coach asks them to play from a different position. These players need to realize that it is the coach who knows how to extract the best out of all of his players. "

Sourav likes music and his favourite singer is Sonu Nigam.
