Manish Maithani is an Indian midfielder who has been a member of the McDowell Mohun Bagan squad since 2009.

Hailing from Dehradun, Maithani learnt the basics of the game from his coach Harbir Singh. Maithani's first professional club was Amity United Football Club in Haryana. After this he also played for Hindustan and National Club in Delhi, where he was coached by McDowell Mohun Magan Team Manager Bernard Oparanozie. It was Bernard who sent Maithani to Mohun Bagan for trial. After a trial period of 21 days, the Mohun Bagan officials decided to offer Maithani his first contract with an I-League club.

Maithani also has the experience of representing the country at the U-23 SAFF Cup, where the Indians eventually won gold. National Team coach Savio Medeira had recently named Maithani among the probable players for the AFC Challenge Cup 2012, but Maithani failed to make the final cut.

Maithani has been tipped as the next anchor of the Indian midfield and this missed opportunity will only propel him to do better in the future. Scoring in the historic 5-3 victory over Kingfisher East Bengal is Mthani's most cherished moment in a Mohun Bagan jersey.

" Youngsters should set targets and ensure that they reach them. "

Maithani likes wtaching movies and playing computer games.
