Review Visit: Kolkata Goalz II (Rabindra Kannan Park)

Mr. Gary Stannett, Chief Executive and Founder of the Active Communities Network, a charity based in London that uses sport and cultural activities to engage with and change the lives of young people in marginalised communities, visited Rabindra Kannan Park on Tuesday, 24th July 2012 in the evening as part of a Review Visit of the entire Kolkata Goalz Project. He was accompanied by Dr. Guru Gujral, Head Society, British Council, New Delhi; Mr. Sanjay Sarkar, Senior Project Manager Society, East India, British Council and Mr. Prince Rufus, Coordinator, McDowell Mohun Bagan Kolkata Goalz.
The boys were being imparted Football training by the coaches while a karate session was on for the girls under the watchful eyes of Sensei Sumanta Mukherjee, 3rd Dan Black Belt.
The guests interacted at length with some of the trainees, the coaches and with Sensei Mukherjee, the Volunteers and also spoke with the officials of Girish Park and Burtola Police Stations who were present at the Venue. One of the talented boys, Somnath Pakrey displayed his skills at juggling the football.
As a token of their maiden visit to the venue, Mr. Stannett and Dr. Gujral were requested to plant saplings in the garden adjacent to the Venue, which they obliged.
