Mohun Bagan Day 2010 celebrated; MB Ratna given to relations of Immortal XI

Mohun Bagan Day 2010 was celebrated on the 29th of July. The year long centenary celebration of the historic 1911 IFA Shield win started from that day.
A "Special Cover" duly authorized by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Government of India, was released by H.E. Mr. M.K. Narayanan, Hon. Governor of West Bengal. The Special Cover was presented by the Chief Post Master General, S. K. Chakraborty to the H.E. Mr. M. K. Narayanan, Hon. Governor of West Bengal.
Mohun Bagan Ratna was conferred posthumously on the Team Members of 1911 (except captain Shibdas Bhaduri who has already been honoured with Mohun Bagan Ratna before). Family members of 9 players were present on Mohun Bagan Day to take the award while Bhuti Sukul's brother's grandson, Mr. Swapan Sukul contacted the club and will come to take the award on Monday evening at McDowell Mohun Bagan club.
The following relatives came to collect the Mohun Bagan Ratna.
1.Hiralal Mukherjee - Grandson Gautam Mukherjee and granddaughter Manjusree Dutta.
2.Rev. Sudhir Chatterjee - Grandson Advocate Samyadeep Kr. Chatterjee.
3.Abhilash Ghosh - Eldest daughter, Rama Guha and grandson, Biplab Guha.
4.Manmohan Mukherjee - Grandson, Nikhil Mukherjee (Manmohan's son Bimal Mukherjee was captain of Mohun Bagan team in 1938 and 1939. In 1939, Mohun Bagan won Kolkata League for the first team).
5.Jitendranath Roy - Eldest daughter Khanika Dasgupta, 2nd daughter Chameli Sengupta and youngest daughter Bula Majumdar.
6.Nilmadhab Bhattacharya - Daughter Bela Devi.
7.Bhuti Sukul - Brother's grandson Swapan Sukul will take the award on Monday.
8.Rajendranath Sengupta - Grandson Abhijit Sengupta.
9.Habul Sarkar - Grandson Sudip Sarkar.
10.Bijaydas Bhaduri - Granddaughter Debika Roy.
The officials of McDowell Mohun Bagan have to be given credit for bringing 9 of the 10 footballers' relatives to be given the Mohun Bagan Ratna posthumously.
The music album of the Bengali movie "Egaro", based on the 1911 IFA Shield win was launched today.
Also,there were three exhibition matches played in the club ground today. Many eminent ex-players were present today like Chuni Goswami, Sailen Manna, Arumoy Naigam, Pranab Ganguly, Sisir Ghosh, Shibaji Banerjee, Goutam Sarkar, Prasun Banerjee, Prasanta Banerjee, Subhash Bhowmick, Bidesh Bose, Shyam Thapa etc.
In the first match, the Mohun Bagan Junior Team beat Mona Guin Memorial Football Camp 2-0, Santanu Das scored both the goals. He could have scored a hattrick, but missed a very easy chance to score.
After that, in the match between the ex-players, the white team won the match 2-1. Kumaresh Bhawal and Sudip Chakraborty scored the goals. In the last match of the day, Media XI beat Artistes XI 3-0.
This was perhaps the first time around 2-3 Bengali TV Channels showed Mohun Bagan Day live throughout the day.
