McDowell Mohun Bagan wins IFA Nursery League

McDowell Mohun Bagan U-14 team emerged Champions of the IFA Nursery League as they defeated Shyamnagar Tarun Sangha in the final match held at Mohun Bagan ground by 1-0.

Dipankar Boral scored the only goal of the match in the extra time.

During the regulation time, Mariners missed a couple of easy chances to score, the easiest chance was missed by Dipankar Boral himself; however, within few minutes of start of the extra time, Ainul Naskar's shot was partially saved by Shyamnagar Tarun Sangha goalkeeper. Getting the rebound ball, Dipankar Boral placed it into the net amidst wild cheering from the McDowell Mohun Bagan supporters.

Shyamnagar Tarun Sangha is the junior team of I league club Prayag United, so in a way this was a sweet revenge, as the senior team lost a couple of teams last year to Prayag United.

Coach Amiya Ghosh, who also deserves applause for this success, was extremely happy with the result as he said, "I am very happy with the performance of the players. We played good football throughout the tournament. Today after the match, Debashis Dutta said that the whole team will be felicitated on Mohun Bagan day. That will be indeed a proud moment for the whole team."

Also, Kalyan Chowbe, CEO, Mohun Bagan Youth Development said that the team will be playing 3 exhibition matches in Goa. He is also trying to arrange a practice match with the U-16 Indian team.
