McDowell Mohun Bagan Goalz Project, Report for January 2012

KOLKATA GOALZ ORGANISED BY McDOWELL MOHUN BAGAN
PROJECT REPORT FOR JANUARY 2012

The following activities were conducted for McDowell Mohun Bagan Kolkata Goalz:

1.    REGULAR TRAINING:
Football practice and physical fitness regime was carried out on eleven days at Hrishikesh Park on 4th, 6th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 25th, 27th and 30th January 2012 in the evening as per schedule. The Team focused on various aspects of competitive football with coaches explaining about the finer points of the game to the trainees. The six coaches imparting football training are:
 
•    Ms. Indrani Sarkar
•    Mr. Abhay Kumar
•    Mr. Argha Majumdar
•    Mr. Nirmalya Haldar
•    Mr. Tez Bahadur
•    Ms. Tapati Dasgupta
 
For New Year festivities there was no training on 2nd January 2012.
 
2.    PRACTICE MATCH
On 23rd January 2012, the Team played an exhibition football match at the Club Ground in the afternoon against another coaching camp team called Serampore Boys. The visiting team comprises of players who get regular football training and most trainees aspire to become professional football players in future. It is extremely heartening to note that in this match (two halves of 30 minutes each); the Team drew 1-1. In fact, our Team was leading at one point of time. The Coaches expressed satisfaction at the progress of the Team and the Team Spirit.

The visiting Team has invited our Team to another friendly match at their Ground at Serampore, Hooghly located in the suburbs of Kolkata.

3.    ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING
Ms. Chitra from British Council, Kolkata is organizing English Language classes for 24 odd trainees at Metropolitan Institution on Friday evenings. The classes commenced on 13th January and two more classes were held in January on 20th and 27th. The trainees are finding it very useful since English is a compulsory subject in school and they can co relate to the game especially because cases and examples are drawn from Football.

The remaining trainees have their regular football training on Friday evenings at Hrishikesh Park.

4.  AFFORESTATION AWARENESS
On 23rd January 2012, the Kolkata Goalz Team were given a small awareness on Afforestation and its benefits after which they proceeded forth to plant two mango saplings at the Lawn located in the Club Ground in the Maidan.

Our sincere thanks to the Team of Kolkata Goalz, Kolkata Police, British Council and Premier League for enabling us to plan and carry out the activities mentioned above.
