Manish Bharghav selected as Best Player of MBSFA; Preseason practice report

Apart from Rahim Nabi who has been declared as the Best Player of Mohun Bagan for the season 2011-12, Manish Bharghav will also receive the award for Best Player of Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy on Mohun Bagan Day, 29th July.

Hearing this news, Manish Bharghav said, "I am extremely happy to receive this award. I want to thank the officials of Mohun Bagan club as well as Tapan Roy of MBSFA. I will try my best to continue performing well for Mohun Bagan."

Coach Santosh Kashyap said, "Congrats to Manish. I have told them that they are the future of Mohun Bagan. They should not lose focus on their game. Apart from Manish, the other player of MBSFA, Deepak is also a very good player."

Meanwhile, McDowell Mohun Bagan team currently is in Durgapur for their preseason conditioning camp. Every alternate day team is having 2 sessions of practice in Shahid Bhagat Singh Stadium, whereas the other days the players are having 1 gym session and in afternoon they are training in the ground.

Chief Coach Santosh Kashyap is bringing a lot of varieties in the training sessions as a result of which the players are enjoying the practice to their fullest.

Today, he took a BEEP test of the players. It is a running aerobic fitness test. This test involves continuous running between two lines 20 m apart in time to recorded beeps. The test was taken in 3 groups. Today, there were a total of 6 winners, Deepak, Sourav Chakraborty, Jewel Raja, Lalrozama Fanai, Arindam Bhattacharya and Sabeeth. Regarding this test, coach Santosh Kashyap said, "Instead of asking the players to run 10 laps of the ground, this test is a very interesting one. It measures the players endurance capacity. The players really enjoyed this training, it is a competitive one and they can improve on their endurance capacity slowly."

The 2nd session which started at 4:15 p.m. included practice with ball. Initially, the players were divided into many small groups, each group consisting of 3 players. One of the players from each group had to pass the ball to another group and then interchange position with that player. This was a practice of ball control as well as how to pass the ball accurately. Whenever the ball was rising above the ground level, coach was shouting, "Keep the ball in ground, I don't want high ball." There was also practice done on sending long balls.

Santosh Kashyap also demonstrated to the players various movements during the game. Also when the players were playing too many unnecessary back passes, he gave instruction to play the ball forward. He also urged the players to keep running and not to slow down the game.

Using half the ground, there was a 9 sided game held where Manish Bharghav scored a nice goal. Arindam and Shilton made few good saves. Lastly for around 30 minutes, there was a 11-side match played involving the full ground.
