McDowell Mohun Bagan will be playing against Dempo Sports Club tomorrow in an I league match to be held at the Salt Lake Stadium. Mariners are at present in the 3rd position in the league table, 8 points behind league leaders Dempo and 3 points behind Kingfisher East Bengal, though the latter has played 1 match more.
With 5 matches still to play, Mariners will have to beat Dempo tomorrow and then hope that Dempo lose points in their next few matches. The remaining matches of Dempo are all against tough opponents like Churchill Brothers, Sporting clube de Goa, Kingfisher East Bengal and Prayag United, but first and foremost Mariners must ensure 3 points from tomorrow's match, otherwise they will certainly be out of contention.
In today's practice session Rakesh Masih sustained a bad injury, that too on his head, and had 4 stitches to close the wound. However, after practice session, Rakesh Masih said, "I have got 4 stitches in my head, but I have told our coach and Technical Director that I will be playing tomorrow if they keep me in the team. Tomorrow we have a very important match against Dempo, I cannot afford to sit out."
Hudson Lima, Jose Barreto and Jewel Raja, in all probability, will be back in the team. All 3 players participated in today's practice session.
Rahim Nabi said, "This is also a revenge match for us as we suffered a big defeat in the away match against Dempo. We will have to win tomorrow."
Shilton Pal might be playing as goalkeeper tomorrow as Sangram Mukherjee is not fully fit. Prasanta Banerjee said, "Shilton is a good goalkeeper. In the last match, he made 2 stunning saves and we have full faith in him. Sangram has a slight muscle injury."
Jose Barreto said, "I am fully fit and will play tomorrow. We all are excited to play against Dempo."
