Nirmal Chettri underlines the importance of good studs
An important thing to remember while choosing a pair of football boot (studs) is that you will be wearing them for a 90 very crucial minutes, so, they need to be a good fit and should be comfortable to wear. The wrong pair of studs also makes players injury prone. With the growing standards of the modern game, the importance of the studs cannot be overlooked.
Our new recruit and India international, Nirmal Chettri, takes to the field with a pair of Nike Mercurial Superfly. "It's got nice shape and that makes me feel good. I feel comfortable and light when I use these shoes" Nirmal said.
When asked how important the studs were to his game, Nirmal compared it to the importance of a "pen to a student. If you're not comfortable then you can't deliver because your concentration during the match remains on the shoes and this will affect you throughout the game."

Nirmal, who can play in the heart of the defense or along the wings, does not look for any specific feature in his studs but says it should match his personality and "colour always remains the most important point."
The first thing he analyzes while choosing his pair is the shape. Then he sees how it helps him in a game and either green or red flags it. "If I know the studs are not going to help me for long, I decide to go for another pair."
Nirmal thinks young footballers, who are eager to turn professional, should "simply go for a comfortable pair from a good brand."
