PRACTICE REPORT; PREPARATION FOR MOHUN BAGAN DAY; FORLAN MIGHT PLAY AGAINST MOHUN BAGAN

27-Jul, 2010 : Preparation for Mohun Bagan Day 2010 is going on in full swing.
It is also learnt that the Golden Ball winner of World Cup 2010, Diego Forlan of Uruguay might participate in an exhibition match against Mohun Bagan on August 1.
There will be a special gate made just outside the main club entrance remembering the historic IFA Shield winning team of 1911.
The program on 29th July will start from 1:30 pm. There will be three matches played after which music album of "EGARO" will be released. A “Special Cover” duly authorized by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Government of India, would be released by H.E. Mr. M.K. Narayanan, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal. Mohun Bagan Ratna will be conferred posthumously on the Team Members of 1911 (except captain Shibdas Bhaduri who has already been honoured with Mohun Bagan Ratna before). This Event would take place from 6 pm onwards.
This will be followed by dinner. The menu of the dinner is as follows: Radhaballavi, Kashmiri Alurdom, Peas Pulao, Prawn Malaikari, Fish Fry, Mutton Kassa, Papad, Mango Chatni, Ice cream, Sandesh from famous sweet shop Nakur. Tennis Secretary, Sushanta Kumar Saha (Kochi da) is in charge of the dinner. The cost of the dinner coupon is Rs. 500, both for member as well as nonmember of the club, but most of the coupons have already been sold.
Today Mohun Bagan club had their practice session in the afternoon from 3.30 pm. 10 players of Mohun Bagan Academy also attended today's practice under coach Stanley. Captain Ishfaq has arrived in Kolkata yesterday night. He said today, "It is a real honour for me to be the Captain of Mohun Bagan in its centenary year."
Tomorrow will be the last day of trial for PAO, Gerard Ambassa Guy. There will be a practice match held at 3.30 p.m. versus Port Trust, after which coach and team management will make their decision on Gerard.
Coach Stanley will go to Siliguri on the 2nd of August to inspect the training facilities available there. If he is satisfied with the condition there, Mohun Bagan will have their preseason training camp held in Siliguri in the 2nd week of August.
Meanwhile, Snehasish Chakraborty has been declared as the captain of Bengal in Santosh Trophy. Total 7 players of Mohun Bagan have been selected for the tournament. Apart from the Captain, the other players are Habibur, Dhanarajan, Sk. Azim, Souvik Chakraborty, Gouranga Dutta and Jayanta Sen.
Souvik Chakraborty who joined Mohun Bagan from MBSFA in 2008-09, said, "I am extremely happy on being selected for Santosh Trophy. If I get chance to play, I will have to perform well for Bengal. I have long way to go in my career, but so far whatever I have achieved, it is all because of Mohun Bagan. Firstly, I learned a lot from Mohun Bagan Sail Football Academy and then I got chance in the senior team of Mohun Bagan from where I have got into Bengal team."
Souvik last year played his first match for Mohun Bagan under Karim Bencharifa and in his very second match he was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant performance. Souvik indeed has a great future ahead if he can keep performing the way he is doing now.
Habibur has also made a great come back so far after he was out of action for almost one full season due to his injury. He has made a good effort to make himself fit, with great cooperation and help from Mohun Bagan club, and has been selected for Santosh Trophy team.
