MOHUN BAGAN BEAT KALIGHAT MS 3-2 IN PRACTICE MATCH; U-19 PLAYERS MIGHT BE RELEASED FROM NATIONAL CAMP
Kolkata ,
26-Jul, 2010 : Mohun Bagan today beat Kalighat MS 3-2 in practice match. PAO in trial, Gerard Ambassa Guy scored a stunning goal while Ashim Biswas netted the other two goals.
Meanwhile, the U-19 players of Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Pune FC might be released from National camp. Since other clubs have not requested to release their U-19 players, so AIFF might only release players from these three clubs. This instruction likely came from coach Colin Toal.
The first XI comprised of Sangram, Biswajit, Gerard Ambassa Guy, Rahul Kumar, Mandi, Dipendu, Santosh Oraon, Suman Dutta, Kingshuk, Ashim and Surabuddin.
Gerard scored the first goal for Mohun Bagan. He overlapped and made a down the middle run, dribbling past two players and then unleashed a shot from about 30 yards out that went to back of the net.
Mohun Bagan conceded a goal midway in the first half. Mohun Bagan coach Stanley was seen shouting instructions like "Play ground pass, play easy." Mohun Bagan went 2-1 ahead just before lemon break. The attack started via the left flank. Dipendu ran a couple of yards before sending a forward pass towards Surabuddin from whose back pass, Ashim brilliantly dodged past one player and took a left footed shot that went inside goal.
After lemon break, Ashim scored his 2nd and Mariners' 3rd goal. Just before the goal, Kingshuk was making some mistakes in the right flank. Stanley advised him to stay calm and to cross the ball in first opportunity. This worked as within minutes Kingshuk paved the way for the 3rd goal. From his cross, Ashim made a very good spot jump to make the scoreline 3-1 in favour of Mohun Bagan. While scoring the goal, he was fouled by a Kalighat player and as a result he got slight injury in his face, though it was nothing serious.
Stanley made 3 changes in 2nd half bringing Shilton, Manish and Karan in place of Sangram, Santosh and Gerard.
Kalighat scored one goal in the fag end of the match.
Mohun Bagan will play their next practice match on Wednesday which will be the last day of trial of Gerard Ambassa Guy.
