PRACTICE REPORT; JERSEY NUMBER OF THE MOHUN BAGAN PLAYERS FOR 2010-11 SEASON

19-Jul, 2010 : Mohun Bagan today had two sessions of practice. Total 13 players were present in practice today. First two days, 16th and 17th July, 22 players were present including the 9 players who were called for Santosh Trophy trial, but since then team had been practicing with 13 players after those 9 players joined Bengal team practice.
Out of the 9 players, 7 players of Mohun Bagan have been selected today for the 26-member Bengal team. However, the final 20-member team will be declared few days later. Dhanrajan, Habibur, Azim, Snehasish, Gouranga Duta, Jayanta and Souvik Chakraborty are the 7 players selected. This means Mohun Bagan will have to practice with less number of players for few more days. Coach Stanley will get the full team along with the foreigners only after the end of Santosh Trophy (except the players selected for national team, both in senior and junior level), provided Bengal reach the final. This is indeed a little setback for the conditioning camp that is going on at present in Mohun Bagan ground.
In Santosh trophy today, Satish Kumar of Mohun Bagan scored a goal for Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Manish Maithani was down with fever and even had to be hospitalized for few days. Right now, he is okay and recovering well. Talking to us from Dehradun, Manish said, "I will go to doctor tomorrow who will review my health and after that, if everything goes well, I will reach Kolkata on the 23rd and will start practice from 24th morning itself."
Captain Ishfaq who is stuck in Kashmir will likely reach Kolkata around next Monday. Talking from Kashmir, he said, "I had got a call for the Jammu and Kashmir Santosh trophy team, they were practicing in Jammu, but I could not reach Jammu due to the curfew. Right now, I want to fully concentrate on my club, Mohun Bagan. I have already missed few days of practice under coach Stanley and hopefully I can join practice from next week. I am trying hard to reach Kolkata by next week."
Today in the morning, team went to Lake Country Club for swimming and gym session. In the afternoon, team continued with their training in club ground. Right now, Stanley is concentrating mainly to improve the fitness of the team, so that they are well prepared for a long season ahead. Coach Stanley is supervising the conditioning training for enhancement of endurance, speed, strength, flexibility, reaction and mobility of the players. The players are also enjoying the training a lot.
Ashim Biswas said, "Coach Stanley is a very cool headed coach and I am really enjoying the training. Last time, when I was in Mohun Bagan, I had performed reasonably well. I had scored 3 goals against East Bengal. I would like to deliver even better performance this time."
There might be a change in practice schedule. 29th July, being Mohun Bagan day, will likely be rest day for the players.
