First Padmasree award winner(1962) Indian footballer, Gostha Paul was one of the greatest full back of India of all times. Gostha Paul was nick named as " Chinese wall" for his invincible defender and was one of the few who maintained his form for over a quarter of a century. He joined the club in 1912 as a partner of Bhuti Sukul-one of the members of 1911 historical Shield winning team. He captained MohunBagan football team from 1921 to 1926.He also captained the IFA team that toured Ceylon in 1933, but for some unavoidable circumstances had to decline the honour of leading the IFA team to South Africa in 1934. Aborn all rounder, he out
shown many in Cricket and hockey and also played good tennis. He also did a great work by coaching young footballers of the state. He was football Secretary, Cricket Secretary and also Tennis Secretary of MohunBagan.
