Hero I-League 2017-18 Launched By The Stars of Indian Football

The 11th edition of Hero I-League – India’s top football league, was officially launched at a glittering ceremony here today. This marks the beginning of yet another scintillating season of enthralling league football in the country. The Hero I-League kicks off on November 25, 2017 and culminates on March 6, 2018.

The Hero I-League is set to provide more excitement and inspiring action this year with the addition of three new teams from three different states. The three new additions are – Gokulam Kerala FC from Calicut, Neroca FC from Imphal, Manipur and Indian Arrows from Delhi. With their individual football cultures and heritage, these teams will significantly enhance the reach of the league in the country.

The 11th edition will also be rewarding for the players with significant prize money at stake for the top teams – Winners (Rs 1 Crore), Runners-Up (Rs 60 Lakh), Third Place (Rs 40 Lakhs) and Fourth Place (Rs 25 Lakhs).

This edition will witness the country’s elite football league returning to the National Capital, with the AIFF developmental team, Indian Arrows, making a comeback. The India U-17 team head coach Luis Norton De Matos of Portugal would be their head coach. The team is a mix of India U-17 and India U-19 team players.

“This year is all about showcasing what the Hero I-League has been doing for years. Launching Indian football’s future stars. History is testimony that the Hero I-League has laid the foundation for Indian football stars to go ahead and shine in their careers and make the country proud. The edition also pays special tribute to the coaches who create those stars with their dedication and commitment towards the beautiful game. We are happy to welcome Kerala back in the league and the return of I-League football to Delhi. I believe these new developments along with the clubs from Northeast, West Bengal, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Goa will make the league even more competitive and interesting. I would like to convey my best wishes to all the participating clubs of this year’s edition,” said Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, All India Football Federation.

The 10 teams from 8 states of the 11th Hero I-League are – Defending Champions Aizawl FC (Mizoram), Neroca FC (Manipur), ShillongLajong FC (Meghalaya), Mohun Bagan AC &Kingfihser East Bengal (West Bengal), Minerva Punjab (Punjab), Gokulam Kerala FC (Kerala), Churchill Brothers FC Goa (Goa), Indian Arrows (Delhi), Chennai City FC (Chennai).

The first match will kick off on November 25, 2017, between Minerva Punjab and Mohun Bagan in Ludhiana at 17:30 hrs.

Mohun Bagan reach Aizawl

ohun Bagan Football Team reached Aizawl today afternoon to play their Hero I-League away match against Aizawl FC to be played on 26th March 2016 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. The match will kick off at 2:30 pm and would be streamed live on I-league.org.

Mariners will have a 1-hour training session at the main venue on Thursday, 25th March 2016 from 9 am onwards.

The following 18 players and 4 officials have traveled to Aizawl for this game.

Mohun Bagan to reach Bengaluru today evening

After sharing points with Mumbai FC at Cooperage Stadium yesterday in a match of the Hero I-League 2015-16, Mohun Bagan reached Mumbai Airport a while back to catch the flight for Bengaluru.

Mariners will be training at the Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru tomorrow evening.

The crucial encounter of the Hero I-League between Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC will be played at the Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday, February 13, 2016.

The match will kick-off at 7 p.m. and will be Telecast Live on Ten Action.

The 18 players and 5 officials traveling to Bengaluru are as follows –

13th foundation day celebration

The 13th foundation day (July 20) celebration of Mohun Bagan started this year from July 18, 2015. To search talented footballers in Burdwan district, a football tournament was arranged where Class VI and VII students of different schools from the under developed areas or rural areas of Burdwan district participated in. A total of 8 schools participated in the tournament and the final match was played on July 20.

The tournament named “Football FESTO 2015” was inaugurated by Mr. Apurba Mukherjee – The Honorable Mayor of Durgapur Municipality Corporation.

The MBSFA Foundation Day program started with flag hoisting by the President of MBSFA – Mr. P. K. Singh at 9:30 a.m. on July 20. This was followed by cake cutting by Mr. P. K. Singh.

In the final of the “Class VI” boys, Birja High School emerged winners defeating Gopalpur High School in the final, while Gopalpur High School took revenge by winning the “Class VII” boys final defeating Birja High School. Following prize distribution ceremony, there was a sumptuous buffet spread consisting of Rice, Dal, Finger Chips, Mixed Veg, Fish Curry, Chicken Curry, Papad, Chatni and Sweets.

The 4 players of the Mohun Bagan Senior team who attended the Foundation Day ceremony were Shilton Paul, Manish Bhargav, Ram Malik and Souvik Chakraborty. Also the Mohun Bagan Technical Committee Members Compton Dutta and Shibaji Banerjee and Mohun Bagan Executive Committee Member Bidesh Bose as well as Shyam Thapa were present to grace the occasion.

The other guests who were present were Mrs. K. Raman (GM-I/C – P&A, Durgapur Steel Plant), Mr. C. S. Sinha (GM – P&A, Durgapur Steel Plant), Mr. Kanchan Nandi (GM, Durgapur Steel Plant), Mr. Jahar Das (Director Mohun Bagan Youth Development Program).

Mr. Tapan Roy, MBSFA said, “We are trying our best to nurture several talented footballers in our academy and trying to help Mohun Bagan Senior team as well as Indian football by producing good footballers from our Academy. I would like to mention the help that I am getting from few dedicated members, whose hard work is helping to improve the overall scenario of the Academy. I would request the supporters of Mohun Bagan to come forward and help the Academy financially. I would also request the supporters and members of Mohun Bagan club to visit the Academy and if possible to try and participate in day-to-day operations. Also, this is the only football academy in India where any kind of financial help is exempted from income tax, approved by Central Government.”

He also added, “Overall infrastructure of the Academy has improved a lot from its starting days; however, I am looking for some mentors who have the experience of working in grass-root level. I also would like to thank Mr. Jo Paul Anchery who was with the Academy for 2 years but left due to some problem related to his job back in Kerala.”

Mr. Roy signed off saying, “I also would request the various clubs that recruit players from our academy to see that the players get proper chance in their respective clubs. It is also the responsibility of the clubs to give the Academy cadets proper chance.”
